A social enterprise in Aberdeenshire is looking for more volunteers and offering taster sessions to anybody interested.
The Acorn Centre is owned by Inverurie West Parish Church to provide hospitality and events services to the wider community.
It is managed by members of the congregation and has a small core of paid staff supporting a volunteer team.
All proceeds from the centre are returned to the church to support projects locally and internationally. It operates a Small Grants Scheme which has donated £28,000 to local clubs, support groups and youth organisations in the Garioch area.
Opened nine years ago, the ground floor has been converted to accommodate a hospitality area, UBUNTU Fairtrade shop, a gallery space and meeting rooms.
Manager Mike Pickford said: “Much of the success in the hospitality area is thanks to volunteers who give up their time to make it work.
“Unfortunately, many of the volunteers who started here have had to stop volunteering and we have not always been able to replace them.
“The Acorn Centre is therefore trying to recruit new volunteers. So we intend to hold a ‘taster fortnight’, starting on February 7.
