It’s more than a year since police began their hunt for a man who raped a young woman in an Aberdeen park.
But little progress has been made in a case which shocked residents when it happened.
A large scale police investigation was launched on January 28, 2016 after a woman, believed to be in her early 20s, was targeted in Union Terrace Gardens in the early hours of the morning.
Specialist officers from the National Rape Investigation Unit were drafted in to assist city officers, and the gardens were taped off to avoid any contamination of the crime scene.
A number of people were traced who were in the vicinity at the time, but to date, nobody has been charged.
In the months following the incident, police introduced a number of safety measures in and around the park, including plain-clothed patrols and CCTV.
In September, the charity Crimestoppers launched an appeal, offering £5,000 to anyone with information which could lead to the arrest and conviction of the rapist.
Councillor Martin Greig, the chairman of the Aberdeen Community Safety Partnership said: “This was a vicious and violent attack that was deeply shocking.
“The gardens are a highly visible feature of city life, so incidents there can have a major impact on our feelings about public safety.
“It is extremely frustrating that the wrongdoer has not been caught and punished for this despicable offence.
“Everyone has a right to feel safe when they travel and walk around the city, and it will give much reassurance if the person responsible for this crime is identified.
“The police always do their best in the fight against crime, but need support and cooperation from the community.
“Anyone with useful information about this case should make contact with the police or independent crime charity Crimestoppers.
“It is never too late to hold someone responsible for their crimes.”
A police spokeswoman said: “Inquiries are ongoing.”
Anyone with information about the rape is urged to phone the police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if anonymity is required.
