A woman has died this morning following a blaze at a north-east home.
Emergency services were called to Kindrochit Drive, Braemar, just after 6:05am.
Two Scottish Fire and Rescue Service appliances from Braemar and Balmoral are attending the scene.
The fire is understood to have started in the living room of the house.
The flames been brought under control but emergency services remain at the scene.
Firefighters also used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet.
There is no further information about the person who has died.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said:”We are currently in attendance and assisting the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with a house fire in the Kindrochit Drive / Hillside Road area of Braemar.
“Police were informed at around 6:10am this morning and enquiries are at an early stage. However, we can confirm that an individual has sadly died.
“Further details will be released in due course.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We were alerted at 6.07am on Thursday, 9 February to reports of a house fire at the junction of Hillside Road and Kindrochit Drive, Braemar.
“Appliances from Braemar and Balmoral were mobilised and the fire was extinguished. Sadly an individual died.
“We remain at the scene and an investigation into the cause will be carried out in due course.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that they received a call from the fire service to attend at 6.34am but have since left the scene.
