Thousands of homes are without power in Aberdeen this afternoon.
About 1,200 homes in the Countesswells, Craigebuckler and Airyhall areas of the city are understood to have been hit by the power outage after the lights went out at about 11.50am.
Residents say they have been told by Scottish and Southern Energy that power will not be restored until 3pm at the earliest.
The Press and Journal understands it has been caused by a fresh issue at the Craigiebuckler substation.
A spokesman for SSE said: “The power cut has affected the Craigiebuckler area.
“Engineers are on site and we are hoping to get everything back on by 3pm.”
Last week, two power cuts in the same area left more than 2,000 north-east homes without power for several hours.
The lights went out in Kingswells, Westhill, Craigiebuckler, Countesswells, Hazlehead and parts of the west end of Aberdeen.
The outage affected the Marcliffe Hotel at Pitfodels, with staff forced to cancel dinner for 30 guests.
UPDATE: Power has now been restored, SSE has confirmed.
