Lord Provost George Adam has travelled to the South Korean city of Mokpo to meet its leaders and strengthen bonds between the north-east and the far east.
Mr Adam met with the city’s mayor, Park Hong-Ryull, and the chairman of its city council, Cho Seong-o, and signed a memorandum of understanding.
Among other factors, the memorandum focuses on the importance of renewable energy – especially offshore wind and tidal marine engineering – which are being researched in both cities.
Mr Adam said: “Aberdeen and Mokpo share many common goals and we look forward to working together for the benefit of all our citizens.
“Aberdeen is an international city with a global outlook and this agreement with Mokpo is great news for the future prosperity of our city, as we look to new markets and new opportunities for growth.”
