Floating paper suit sparks north-east lifeboat call-out

A north-east lifeboat was called to check on a drifting buoy nine miles out at sea this morning.
The Peterhead lifeboat was dispatched at 11am after reports from a passing helicopter that  a “dummy” had been caught on the float.
After carrying out a search of the area, it transpired it was in fact a paper suit that had been caught in the device.
The buoy was found nine miles east of Peterhead.
A spokesman for the Aberdeen Coastguard added: “Peterhead lifeboat went out to a report of a drifting buoy with what they believed was a dummy attached.
“It turned out it was drifting with a paper suit. The helicopter reported what they’d seen.”
