A grandmother from Huntly will use the new iPad Pro, which she won in a Press and Journal competition, to keep in touch with her family.
Isabelle Grant, 74, entered the contest to win the touch screen device on February 6.
And she now plans to use her new tablet to chat with her three grandchildren through messaging services, and also keep up to date on the weather.
She said she was overcome with excitement when she found out she had won and declared: “I always get the Press and Journal delivered every day, so I thought I would enter it because my tablet is getting quite old and slow now.
“It’s the first time I’ve won, but I try these competitions all the time, so it’s fantastic to finally win one of them.
“I like using Google to look up local things, such as the weather, but there’s a lot more I can learn to do if I ask the grandchildren.
“My granddaughter has showed me how to send messages back and forth to each other, but I’ve not learned how to use Skype yet – hopefully, now that I’ve got an iPad she’ll teach me.”
The lucky Mrs Grant’s new iPad has a 12.9 inch display and, in addition to keeping in touch with her family, she will be able to use the technology to watch TV, shop online and more.
She added she has had the Press and Journal delivered to her door for many years, and although she still enjoys reading the physical edition, with her new iPad she’s considering giving the paper’s online version a go.
She said: “We’ve always taken the Press and Journal for as long as I can remember, every morning.
“I like it because it gives you all the local news, and all the news from around the world as well.
“I do like my paper in the mornings, but now I might even use my iPad to read the Press and Journal as well.
“I still can’t believe I’ve won, it really is absolutely amazing.”
