Detectives investigating the brutal murder of a 67-year-old north-east man are carrying out extensive inquiries as the one year mark of his death approaches.
Brian McKandie was found dead at Fairview Cottages, Bandenscoth on Saturday, March 12 last year.
Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team has been re-visiting customers and acquaintances of Mr McKandie in Rothienorman and beyond as they continue to build a picture of his life before his body was discovered.
Officers will also be commencing searches of roads verges in the area today as part of the ongoing investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Iain Smith said: “We continue to actively investigate the death of Mr McKandie with extensive inquiries being carried out not just in the Rothienorman area, but across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Customers and acquaintances are being re-visited, along with exploring other potential lines of inquiry.
“Next month will mark one year since Brian was found within his home, which means a whole year his family have had to deal with the fact he was taken from them in the most tragic of circumstances. They have lost a much-loved member of their family and just want to know why.
