Students at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen have voted in favour of unisex toilets being introduced on campus.
A total of 152 students attended the annual general meeting at RGU last week, where they were invited to bring forward ideas and motions for rules they would like to see changed.
Christopher Cowie, a third year accounting and finance student, came forward with the motion to introduce the proposal to bring in gender neutral toilets.
It passed with only five students opposed.
He said: “This is something I’ve been working on through my role as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) champion, and the society has been behind me all the way.
“I was delighted there was such support for the motion and it felt worthwhile knowing that not only LGBT members were backing the idea.
“We will be working alongside the university to ensure that the work that needs to be done to implement the motion is carried out.”
