Twelve people have been arrested across Aberdeen in a police drugs clampdown.
Additional police were brought in to swoop on the city centre with sniffer dogs to target those involved in the sale and supply of illegal drugs on Friday and Saturday night.
Additional officers, including a police dog handler were deployed in support of the regular weekend policing operation.
Inspector David Howieson of the City Centre Community Policing Team stated: “This operation was designed to further improve the safety of Aberdeen city centre which is already recognised as being one of the safest and most welcoming in the country.
“The misuse of controlled drugs can have a devastating effect and can become even more dangerous when substances are consumed along with alcohol.
“We are extremely grateful for the support we received from local licensed premises and their staff during the course of the operation. This operation will be repeated over the course of the year and the message is simple, drugs supply and misuse won’t be tolerated within the city centre either by licensed premises or the Police and every effort will be undertaken to deter and disrupt those who are intent on defying this.”
