Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre has teamed up with Friends of Anchor to provide treats to cancer patients at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The AECC launched their ‘Treat Tickets’ initiative last November and the project gives local people the opportunity to win tickets for shows at the arena.
Since the start of the initiative, 14 patients have won tickets for a range of concerts.
Ursula Fairlie, PR and Fundraising executive for the charity, believes the scheme is a great idea for cancer patients.
She said: “The Treat Ticket initiative is such a special opportunity for patients. For many, it brings a welcome distraction from their treatment and the feedback from patients who have been lucky enough to win concert tickets has been incredibly positive.
“We are truly grateful to the AECC for the relentless support of the cause since coming on-board as a charity partner in 2015.”
Friends of Anchor was selected by AECC staff as a charity they would support because of care received by family and friends of staff.
The centre’s PR & Marketing manager, Leigh-Ann Kemp, added: “We are always looking for different ways to help raise awareness of the cause and the fabulous service that Friends of Anchor provide.
“The Treat Tickets incentive seemed very fitting to help create some positive memories for patients and their families.
“We are thrilled with the feedback received from Friends of ANCHOR from the patients, so we know the incentive is achieving what we aimed it to do.”
