Police are appealing for witnesses following a spate of thefts in the Granite City.
Incidents reported recently include the theft of a bag from an 83 year old woman on Friday, February 17, at around 6.40pm at the Beach Boulevard.
Police are looking to trace a person who was seen in the area at the time who was wearing a black jacket with the hood up and dark trousers.
A 29 year old woman was also approached by a person who tried to take her bag at Rosemount Viaduct shortly before 11pm on Monday, 27 February.
Police are looking to trace a male described as medium build, wearing a grey woollen beanie hat and dark hooded top or jumper.
And yesterday a 23 year old female was approached by a person who pulled at her bag on Orchard Street at around 8.15pm. Police are looking to trace a male in his twenties in connection with the incident. He is described as wearing a grey hooded top with dark writing on the back and dark trousers.
On each occasion a man on a bicycle was seen nearby.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Beattie said: “Fortunately no one has been injured as a result of these crimes however this type of behaviour which may target those who are elderly or more vulnerable will not be tolerated.
“We will pursue all lines of enquiry in our effort to trace those responsible. We are urging members of the public to contact us with any information which may assist us.
“We are considering the possibility that these incidents may be linked however we are keeping an open mind.
“I would urge members of the public to remain vigilant and anyone with concerns can report these to police on 101.”
