A £100,000 scheme to improve the health and wellbeing of residents in a north-east town has been relaunched after a pilot programme was a success.
The Your Voice Your Choice initiative, overseen by the Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership, invites local groups to bid for a chunk of the cash to improve Fraserburgh.
Last year 17 community projects from neighbourhoods in the north of the town received funding after a public vote. Now the scheme has been extended to cover the whole of Fraserburgh.
The Fraserburgh Regeneration Development Partnership is also involved in organising the project.
A spokesman for the campaign said: “People living in Fraserburgh will then get the chance to decide which projects should receive funding at a special event held at Fraserburgh Academy on June 17.
“In addition are plans to allow people to vote online this year, more details about this will be provided at a later date.”
Interested groups have until Friday, April 28 to apply for funding for their projects.
An information afternoon will be held on Monday between 3-6pm at the JIC Building in Fraserburgh’s Albert Street.
Successful applicants from last year’s pilot scheme will be on hand to answer questions about their funding.
Last year the Fraserburgh Sea Cadets applied for £8,000 to help buy a minibus to take them to competitions, courses and camps. They have been able to get national qualifications and take part in sailing, rowing and power boating as a result.
Other successful bidders from last year included the Solid Rock Café, Fraserburgh Surf Life Saving Club, Fraserburgh JIC Walking Group and Fraserburgh and District Community Safety Group.
