An iconic former church building in Aberdeen city centre is to be transformed into an upmarket bar and restaurant.
The plans for Greyfriars Church on Broad Street have now been approved.
A much-needed clean for the exterior of the building is on the cards as part of the project, so that it will match the outside of neighbouring building, Marischal College.
The church has been empty since 2011.
Aberdeen-based TCD Architects have drawn up the plans for hospitality giant G1.
Director Steve Lawrence said he was excited to be involved in “such a prestigious project”.
He added that the building work will complement Marischal Square really well and bring added vibrancy to the civic space.
Historic timber panel carvings from the gallery in the church will be relocated to the new ground floor bar.
The church has been on the Buildings at Risk Register for Scotland for several years.
