A major search has been resumed this morning following the discovery of a missing man’s belongings nearĀ an Aberdeen clifftop.
Personal belongings apparently relating to Benjamin Ludwig, a 34 year old German man, were foundĀ on a coastal path in the Cove area.
Police were contacted at around 12.20pm yesterday afternoon by a member of the public who hadĀ seen a male wearing a red waterproof jacket in the same area the day before.
OfficersĀ said they were keen to establish if that was Mr Ludwig.
As a result of this information, resources from HM Coastguard and the Aberdeen lifeboat carried out searches of the coastline around Cove where the male had been seen.
Inspector Mark Stephen of North East Division said:Ā “Personal belongings apparently relating to Benjamin Ludwig, a 34 year old German were recovered near the cliff top on the coastal path near Cove.
“We are keen to establish if he was the male wearing the red waterproof jacket and that he is safe and well.Ā At this time we don’t know what Mr Ludwig’s connections are to the area.
“I would ask that anyone who has any knowledge of the current whereabouts of Mr Ludwig, where he has been staying or any other information about him to get in touch with us on 101.
“Similarly if you were the male wearing the red waterproof jacket in the area on Sunday 5 March and are unconnected to Mr Ludwig we would like to hear from you too”.
