Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in Aberdeen.

The incident took place on Pennan Road, in the Tillydrone area of the city.

Officers subsequently received a report that a 28-year-old man had been seriously injured within a flat on the street, at about 7pm on Wednesday.

One witness, who lives on the street but wanted to remain anonymous, claimed to have heard someone screaming “get an ambulance”.

He added: “I went outside later on and saw police cars later on but they wouldn’t say what was going on.

Police and the ambulance service attended and the victim was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where his injuries were said to be serious but not life-threatening.

Officers believe the assault may be connected to a brawl on Great Northern Road earlier that day.

Last night police urged anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Sherlock said: “We are following a positive line of inquiry in relation to this incident, however I would still appeal to any members of the public with information to please get in touch.

“We understand there may have been a related disturbance in the Great Northern Road area earlier in the day involving a group of men, so would also appeal to anyone who has information about this to let us know.

“These were completely contained and isolated incidents with no threat to the wider public at any stage.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
