A support worker has been struck off after he picked an autistic child up and held him against a door.
Povilas Stirblys was working for Grampian Autistic Society when the offences took place between December 1, 2014 and February 6, 2015.
Following a three-day hearing, the Scottish Social Services Council found that Stirblys was guilty of misconduct and therefore his fitness to practice was impaired.
Three witnesses gave evidence that Stirblys, who no longer works for the society, verbally abused an eight-year-old boy on, or around, December 14 while in a “play scheme” session at an Aberdeen care centre.
The hearing also heard that he had used a number of phrases to the child, including “shut up and be normal” and “stop it, shut up, just stop it” or words to that effect and swore at the child.
Stirblys also picked the boy up and held him against a door and, in addition, held his legs down while he “presented challenging behaviour”.
He subsequently failed to report the incident.
The hearing panel also found that Striblys left another autistic child on his own, described as “aged between eight and nine”, who subsequently left the premises unattended.
Lastly, he failed to notify the SSSC that he had been sacked by the autistic society.
He has now been removed from the support worker register, and has until March 18 to appeal the panel’s decision.
Stirblys could not be reached for comment last night.
