Aberdeen Festivals has won a prestigious award for Marketing and Digital Festival Excellence.
At the E Awards – which are organised by EventIt – the consortium of ten north-east festivals was awarded a prize in recognition of its effective digital marketing campaigns.
An integrated approach was adopted by Aberdeen Festivals during the past year. And, according to the group, a collaboration was specifically designed to strengthen the sector and develop an audience.
The policy has paid dividends. Aberdeen’s annual festival of light – SPECTRA – reported an 40% increase in ticket sales from 2016 for last month’s event.
Visit Aberdeenshire festivals and culture director, Angela Michael, added: “Aberdeen Festivals is well deserving of this award; the work the group has undertaken over the past year has made a significant difference to the profile of culture and the festivals across the region.
“Not only have our festivals’ digital marketing efforts positively raised the profile of festivals within Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, they have also helped position the city as one of cultural prominence.”
Next on the calendar for the group is the Aberdeen Jazz Festival which starts next Wednesday and runs until March 19.
Jazz Scotland director, Fiona Alexander said: “Aberdeen Jazz Festival is so delighted to be part of an award-winning group. Since joining Aberdeen Festivals in early 2014, we have seen a remarkable rise in online exposure, ticket sales and we have continued to expand our programme.”
