Gardening enthusiasts from across the north-east will flock to Aden Country this weekend for the return of a plant and food festival.
The first Seedy Sunday last year was a huge success and organisers have revived the event to celebrate and promote food grown in Aberdeenshire.
Families are invited to get their hands dirty at the farmers’ market at the popular visitor attraction near Mintlaw on Sunday. A seed and plant swap shop will be on offer alongside a host of horticulture and food demonstrations.
Liz Scott, from organisers Buchan Development Partnership, said: “The heart of the Seedy Sunday event is the swapping of seeds and seed potatoes.
“Whether you are a beginner or master gardener, novice or expert seed saver or just curious about gardening and food, there is something for everyone in the poly tunnels at Aden Country Park.”
The theme of this year’s event is “from seed to plate” and guest speakers include Erling Watt from Longside Apiaries and Jack Grant, landscape officer from Aberdeenshire Council.
Mr Grant will be offering advice, leading workshops and offering tours of the park’s polytunnels.
The event is organised by Buchan Development Partnership together with Friends of Aden and Aberdeenshire Council. Shell has also supported the project through its small grants scheme.
Visitors are encouraged to bring seeds and plants for the seed exchange.
Seedy Sunday will take place at Aden Country Park between 11am and 4pm. The event also offers children’s activities and entertainment from Ugie Folk Club.
