Police are hunting the man responsible for an attempted robbery at an Aberdeen supermarket yesterday.
The incident happened at Farmfoods on Great Northern Road, at its junction with Barron Street, at around 1pm.
Officers cordoned off the shop for several hours following the robbery.
No-one was injured and the culprit fled empty handed.
The man is described as in his late 20s or early 30s and between 5ft8-10ins tall.
He was wearing a black jacket with reflective strips, blue jeans, white trainers and a grey hoody underneath his jacket.
George Adam, a councillor for Hilton, Woodside and Stockethill, last night said: “I’m disappointed to hear about the attempted robbery. It’s a frightening experience for the staff at Farmfoods.”
Mr Adam, who is Lord Provost, said: “I hope those responsible can be caught as soon as possible so I encourage anybody who has any information that would help to please contact the police”
Police have also said they believe the suspect had been seen in the local area the day before, walking a white dog with brown patches.
Detective Sergeant Graeme Skene said: “No one has been injured and nothing has been stolen.
“However it is naturally very concerning for the local community.
“We are looking to trace a man in connection with the incident. He is described as in his late 20’s or early 30’s and between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall.
“He is described as wearing a black jacket with reflective strips, blue jeans, white trainers and a grey hoody underneath his jacket.
“It is thought he was seen in the area yesterday with a white dog with brown patches.”
Anyone with any information should contact the force on 101.
