Firefighters spent fours hours tackling a blaze in an Aberdeenshire woodlands yesterday. The incident broke out in Priests Wood, near Keig, at about 10.45am. Two appliances from Ballater and one from Inverurie were called to the scene. A spokesman for the fire and rescue service said the blaze had affected “approximately 15 mounds of brushwood” across a 32ft area of the forest. Crews used beaters, a high pressure lance and a digger to bring the fire under control. The incident was brought under control by 2.35pm.
