A serial sex offender has avoided jail after he admitted rubbing his groin in front of a female dog walker in Aberdeen.
Victor Rae, whose address was given as School Avenue appeared at the city’s sheriff court yesterday to be sentenced for the offence which took place in the Diamond Woods on Tullis Hill on March 9.
The court head the dog walker had noticed Rae standing nearby and initially thought he was interested in her dog.
But he then began to rub his groin while continuing to look directly at her.
Police were alerted and they later traced the 45-year-old after identifying him on a local business’s CCTV.
Defence agent Mike Munro said Rae had cooperated fully with the police and had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.
Sheriff Morag McLaughling placed Rae under supervision for three years and said he would remain on the sex offenders’ register for the same period.
The sheriff ordered him to complete the Moving Forward, Making Changes programme with the social work department.
It had emerged at the last hearing Rae was already on the register after exposing himself and making obscene gestures at two young girls waiting for a bus on Provost Rust Drive in May 2011.
He also appeared in court in November 2006 after sending pictures of his genitals to an 11-year-old girl, and exposed himself to her and a 14-year-old friend.
