The family of a “devoted” gran who died following a horror crash on the A90 have said they are “completely devastated”.
Dorothy Cruickshank, 66, was one of six people to be taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the smash on the A90 Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road, at the Toll of Birness, on April 5.
The retired primary teacher, from Hatton, had been a passenger in a Volkswagen Passat when it collided with a white Peugeot 207.
Last night, police confirmed the mother-of-three had died in hospital the prior day.
Police have now released a statement on her family’s behalf, which described Mrs Cruickshank as “kind, caring, adorable and loving”.
The family said: “Dorothy always had a smile on face. She was a proud mum of three daughters and a devoted nanna.
“We are completely broken and devastated by the loss of our kind, caring, adorable and loving mum who was also an amazing wife and the best nanna in the world.
“We’ll be lost without her and no words can express how much pain we are feeling.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks to the emergency services and the staff at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary accident and emergency, intensive care and high dependency units for all their care and support.”
It is understood Mrs Cruickshank was a teacher at Meethill Primary in Peterhead and St Fergus Primary before her retirement, and was heavily involved in her local church, where she taught Sunday school and helped with teas.
The other casualties from the crash near Peterhead were the 70-year-old driver of the Volkswagen and four 18-year-olds within the Peugeot, who all suffered serious injuries.
The incident, which happened at about 6pm on April 5, resulted in the Peugeot landing on its side.
Police have confirmed a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
Officers have also appealed for witnesses and also for any dash-mounted camera footage of the cars at the scene.
Anyone with any information should contact the force on 101.
