A former nurse has been struck off after failing to correctly administer medicine to patients.
Sheelakutty Jacob has been removed from the nursing register by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) following a review.
She had been working at Hamewith Lodge Care Home, on Aberdeen’s Marchburn Drive, at the time of the incidents and left her post in July 2014.
The charges against her included 13 instances of not recording she had administered medicine.
Another incident involved Jacob writing down that she had given a patient medicine when she had not.
The misconduct all took place in June or July 2013.
Jacob had previously been suspended by the professional watchdog for 18 months while an investigation was carried out. This was then extended by another nine months.
The report of the NMC conduct and competence committee panel hearing, stated: “The panel is mindful of the serious nature of Miss Jacob’s failings which were numerous and involved a significant number of patients who were placed at risk of harm.
“Given her lack of meaningful and appropriate engagement and the absence of any evidence to suggest that she has taken any steps to remediate her failings, the panel is of the view that Miss Jacob’s nursing skills and knowledge will have further diminished with the passage of time since the original order was imposed in July 2014.”
The striking off order will come into place on May 29.
