A busy road in an Aberdeenshire town is still closed almost a week after a burst water main ruptured large sections of tarmac.
Police were called to the Westhill Drive early last Friday morning.
Around 18 homes were left without water for most of the day, as massive puddles stretched along the commonly used commuter route.
Homes were left without water for more than nine hours, and the road was closed temporarily while Scottish Water staff assessed the damage caused by the burst.
Last night a spokesman for Scottish Water confirmed engineers had visited the road an said it would remain closed until works can be carried out.
The closure has resulted in increased congestion in the area.
Motorists travelling to and from the Aberdeenshire town have been faced with lengthy queues, and diversions have been put in place between Westhill Drive’s junctions with Kinmundy Drive and Hillside Road.
The Scottish Water spokesman said: “A site visit has been undertaken to assess the damage to the road surface. Plans are underway to carry out a full repair as quickly as possible.”
And yesterday, around 40 Aberdeen properties were left without running water after another water main burst.
A large hole on the Kingsway road in Bucksburn opened up early yesterday afternoon, resulting in a great deal of water spilling out and down the hill.
Scottish Water workers could be seen working at the scene for much of the day, determining the scale of the problem and finding out how to fix it as soon as possible.
A number of homes were left without a water supply for the duration of the incident.
A spokesman for Scottish Water said: “Scottish Water staff were on site at the Kingsway in Bucksburn after reports of no water in the area.
“Scottish Water apologises for any inconvenience as this repair is carried out.”
