A man killed after his crash crashed into a tree late last night has been named by police.
Kieran Ross, from the Peterculter area of Aberdeen, was travelling along the A93 Braemar to Ballater road when he went off the road near Inver Lodge at Crathie.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 1am yesterday, and the 30-year-old was cut free from the wreckage but could not be saved.
The road was closed for about nine hours while collision investigators examined the scene.
The car, understood to be a red Seat Ibiza, was badly damaged in the crash with firefighters working to remove debris from the roadside late yesterday morning.
Sergeant David Pirie from the Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts at this difficult time are with Kieran’s family and friends.
“Our investigation to establish the full circumstances is currently ongoing and I would urge anyone who saw Kieran’s vehicle prior to the collision to come forward and speak to us.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote reference 380 of 23 April or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
