A man has been charged with an alleged assault that occurred in the Union Street area of Aberdeen yesterday.
Officers were called out at around 9.30pm to the Co-operative store. A 33-year-old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious head injuries, where he is now in a critical condition.
The 27-year-old is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court tomorrow.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Rhona Di Meola said: “Thank you to the members of the public who assisted with this inquiry. I would also like to stress that this was a contained and isolated incident and that at no stage was there any threat to the wider public.
“I would still encourage anyone who was in the area around the time in question, in particular between 9.25pm and 9.55pm, to please contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 anonymously if you think you have information which could help.”
