The conduct hearing of a north east carer who faces multiple charges begins today.
Anne Stewart worked for Cornerstone Community Care at their Longside centre and will appear before industry watchdog, the Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC), in Dundee today.
It is alleged that on May 7 last year Ms Stewart failed to secure a resident’s wheelchair while transporting them in a service vehicle.
It is claimed this caused the wheelchair to tip backwards and injure the leg of another resident.
She is also accused of not safely securing a colleague who was holding onto a wheelchair in the back of a service vehicle.
It is further alleged that between May 7 and May 9 she failed to give an accurate account of events on May 7.
When filling out an incident report Ms Stewart allegedly failed to report that the accident had been caused by an unsecured wheelchair.
And when asked by her team leader to give an account of how the resident had been injured Ms Stewart allegedly said that she had banged her leg during a transfer into her wheelchair and physically demonstrated the same.
A Cornerstone spokesperson said: “Following an internal investigation and subsequent disciplinary procedure, this member of staff was dismissed from their role with the company in July last year.
“It is now a matter for the SSSC and we are unable to comment further.”
