Emergency services were called to deal with a suspicious fire at a block of flats last night.
The alarm was raised at around 10.15pm within the ground floor of the building in the King Street area of Aberdeen.
A fire had started near the communal front door, however was out before emergency services attended.
DC Norman McGlashan, who is leading the inquiry, said: “I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area around the time in question and saw any suspicious activity or people to please get in touch.
“No one was injured or harmed thankfully, however the outcome could have been much worse. You don’t know how a fire will develop and the outcome could be fatal.
“Anyone with information can contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 to remain anonymous.”
