Police are appealing for witnesses after two masked men armed with an axe were spotted in gardens around the West End of Aberdeen.
Officers were called out to an address in Blenheim Place last night after the men, wearing dark clothes and balaclavas, were spotted hanging around garages and outbuildings.
One woman was leaving her home when she spotted the pair acting suspiciously.
A man was within an enclosed garden while the other appeared to be keeping watch from a lane at the back of the property.
When the pair were disturbed the man in the lane shouted to the other, who then clambered over the garden wall before they ran away together.
An axe and a racing bike were left behind at the scene.
Inspector Ian McKinnon said: “We were informed of suspicious activity in the Blenheim Place area of Aberdeen at around 11.40pm last night, where two men were seen within gardens.
“Inquiries are ongoing into the incident and I’d encourage anyone who saw two men at the time, or anything suspicious, to contact us on 101.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101 quoting reference 4644 of 07/05 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
