Aberdeenshire Council’s Liberal Democrat group has held talks with the Conservatives today over a possible coalition but no deal has been agreed.
The two parties met in Aberdeen today along with “a number” of independent councillors.
However councillor Peter Argyle, who was elected leader of the Liberal Democrat group yesterday, said no formal announcement would be made this week.
He said: “The Liberal Democrats are in discussion with the Conservative group and a number of independents over the future shape of Aberdeenshire Council.
“The groups have agreed there will be no further comment until the council meeting on May 18.”
