A thug who punched a man in an Aberdeen kebab house, before spitting at a police officer and attempting to head-butt him, has been given a £600 fine.
Hassan Abdul-Jalil’s fury boiled over at Efe’s Turkish Kaboosh in Chapel Street on April 17 following the breakdown of a relationship.
The 27-year-old restaurant worker lost his temper in the takeaway, but police caught up with him in Crown Street after a taxi driver followed him and alerted officers.
Abdul-Jalil had still not calmed down, and spat at PC Ryan Begg before attempting to assault him with his head.
Depute fiscal Katy Begg told Aberdeen Sheriff Court how events unfolded at around 2am.
She said: “He punched the complainer in the head. He was then pushed out by one of the members of staff.
“He went into Crown Street. The taxi driver followed the accused. Shortly thereafter, police attended and he was detained. He attempted to head-butt the police officer and continued to spit in his direction.”
Abdul-Jalil, of Walker Road, Aberdeen, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault.
Defence agent Lynne Bentley said: “He is 27, he’s single and works in the restaurant trade. He had been at work earlier in the evening. He had suffered the break-up of a relationship earlier that day.
“He had been drinking with colleagues. He says he just remembers waking up at Kittybrewster (police station).”
Sheriff Malcolm Garden told Abdul-Jalil: “Drinking excess alcohol is absolutely no excuse for this type of behaviour,” before slapping him with the hefty fine.
