An Aberdeenshire road will be shut for the next two weekends because of work on the Aberdeen bypass.

The B977, Belhelvie to Parkhill, road will be closed between its junction with the B997, Bridge of Don to Newmacher Road and the A947, Newmachar to Dyce road.

It will be out of commission from 9pm on Friday, May 12 until 6am on Monday, May 15 and from 9pm on Friday, May 19 until 6am on Monday, May 22.

The closure will allow Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) contractors to tie in the new Goval east roundabout to adjoining slip roads and undertake resurfacing works.

Access will be maintained for pedestrians, local residents, local businesses and emergency vehicles.

Diversions will be signposted, but motorists heading east are advised to travel north on the A947 to Newmachar, then right onto the U26C, right onto the B979, Newmachar to Kingseat road, and right again onto the B999, Tillycorthie to Potterton road, where they can rejoin the B977.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: “The contractor has been working closely with police and the local authorities to ensure that anyone who needs to use the roads over the next few weekends can do so, while maintaining the safety of road users and road workers.

“These works have been timed to take place over two weekends to help minimise the impact they may have on road users.”
