Police have now charged 15 people in connection with organised fights in the north-east last weekend.
Investigations are still ongoing into the disturbances which erupted across Inverurie.
The centre of the normally peaceful market town was taken over by gangs of youths on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday – with huge groups descending upon the railway station, Harlaw Road and academy areas of the community.
Last night, the officer leading the investigation issued a statement in a bid to reassure residents that extra patrols are still in place and would continue this weekend.
Members of the public described seeing huge groups of young people – some wearing balaclavas and bandanas – in the streets.
And it is understood the youths, aged between 15 and 21, travelled by train and car to get to Inverurie.
Sergeant Willie Murdoch, from the divisional alcohol and violence reduction unit (DAVRU), said last night: “An extensive amount of work including reviewing CCTV is ongoing in relation to this investigation and we are following several positive lines of inquiry.
“I can assure those who think they have got away with being involved you will be traced and you will be dealt with.”
Sgt Murdoch went on to say that increased patrols will be in operation over the weekend in Inverurie, Kintore and Blackburn to prevent any further disruption and added he expects more arrests to be made in the “next few days”.
He said: Inverurie and the surrounding areas are safe places to live and work and let me be clear that anti-social behaviour in any form will not be tolerated.
“We are not being complacent and are planning for any eventuality.
“We believe it will have been an isolated incident, a pre-arranged disturbance by two main groupings. It looks like it began with smaller groupings but developed over the course of the weekend.”
