Businesses and residents are being encouraged to paint the town red – and white – ahead of the Dons’ looming cup final clash against Celtic.
Aberdeen FC have appealed to the north-east community to support the team in their first Scottish Cup Final for 17 years by sporting the team’s colours in whatever way they can.
From making Aberdeen FC-themed cakes to decorating businesses in red and white, the club has asked everyone to play their part in backing Derek McInnes and his side all the way up to the big day on May 27 as part of the “All for Aberdeen” campaign.
Red Army-coloured bunting will be put up all along Union Street by the city centre business group Aberdeen Inspired, who are working alongside the club and the Aberdeen FC Community Trust to promote the celebrations.
Adrian Watson, the CEO of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “It’s all about showing civic pride.
“Aberdeen FC has achieved so much this year, and irrespective of the results on May 27, they’ve really done the city proud and it’s time for everyone to get behind them.
“We’ve already got bunting sorted out for Union Street and maybe some other areas, and we’ve been in touch with around 800 businesses in the city to ask them to get involved and show the Dons how much we appreciate them.
“I’m sure the north-east community will be right behind our efforts to support the Dons as much as possible ahead of this big match.”
