The family of a missing north-east taxi driver have paid an emotional tribute after his body was formally identified by police.
Robert Stevenson, 65, of Portsoy, was reported missing by his family after last being seen driving his taxi, a blue Dacia Duster, on Thursday afternoon.
The vehicle and body of Mr Stevenson were found off the B9031 near Pennan at around 10pm on Monday night.
Today, his family said they were devastated by the announcement but thanked those who had volunteered in the search to find him.
“We are devastated with the outcome of what has been a very difficult few days,” they said in a release issued by Police Scotland.
“Robert was a devoted husband and much loved dad and will be very sorely missed.
“The family would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the search in any way and ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
