Following a dramatic meeting at council headquarters yesterday afternoon, Aberdeen Labour have agreed to sign up to a coalition agreement with the Tories and Independents to seize shared control.
The decision led to all nine Labour members of the council being suspended by party bosses last night, throwing the leadership into uncertainty and leading some to call for a new election to be held.
For now, however, the authority will be run by the cross-party group, with members from Labour, the Tories and Independents all taking up key leadership roles.
