Emergency crews were called to a roundabout in Ellon this afternoon amid reports of an ‘explosive device’ being found.
Two fire crews and a specialist unit were sent to the scene on the A90 at around 11.30am and partially cordoned off the area.
However, specialists were able to assess the containers and found there was no danger to the public.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed that officers had been called to the scene but were later returned to base after realising there was no threat.
A spokesperson for Aberdeenshire Council said: “Emergency Services were called to Ellon park and ride to investigate an unknown substance in containers.
“It is not hazardous.”
The area has now fully reopened and no further traffic delays are anticipated.
