A number of events were cancelled in Aberdeenshire in the aftermath of Monday’s horrific events.
Pupils at Portlethen Academy had been due to visit Manchester yesterday as part of an end-of-year trip.
However the school decided to cancel the trip after discussions with the local authority.
Neil Morrison, head teacher at the school, issued a statement to parents.
It said: “After consideration of the information available to us and discussion with Aberdeenshire Council we have taken the decision to cancel the trip to Manchester due to the events of last night and the subsequent disruption in the area together with the on-going security risk.
“Arrangements will be made in school for the pupils affected with normal school hours operating.
“Costs will be reimbursed, details of this will be forthcoming. If you have any queries please call 01224 782174. Thank you for your understanding.”
Meanwhile, a family fun day was also due to take place at Ellon Fire Station on Saturday but was cancelled.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has cancelled all similar events across the country to ensure crews are ready to respond should another attack take place.
And a general election hustings event in Inverurie was also cancelled due to the suspension of campaigning across the UK.
The event, which would have taken place at the Kintore Arms last night, would have involved the candidates for the Gordon constituency.
Colin Clark, Scottish Conservatives, David Evans, Lib Dems, Kirsten Muat, Labour and Alex Salmond, SNP, were all due to appear at the event.
