An Aberdeen guest house owner has been put on the sex offenders register after he groped a schoolgirl at the bus stop.
Ian Craig was yesterday found guilty of sexually assaulting the 14-year-old by touching her bottom on March 10 last year.
The 54-year-old had denied the charge, and been on trial at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
The court heard the teen had been standing at a bus stop in Stonehaven when she was approached by Craig from behind.
Before boarding the bus, he touched her bottom.
Speaking from behind a screen in court, the girl said: “It made me feel uneasy, it happened so suddenly”.
After this, an adult couple that saw the incident at the bus stop reported Craig, of Great Western Road, Aberdeen, to the police.
Defence agent Laura Bell suggested to the young girl that her client had not been sober, and asked her if she thought it was possible he had brushed against her accidentally.
However, the girl said “it felt like it was on purpose”.
Sheriff Malcolm Garden found Craig guilty, and said he had put the girl through a traumatic experience.
He fined him £400, and will be on the sex offenders register for five years.
