Investigation into circumstances surrounding fire in north-east town

Firefighters were called to a north-east town following reports of a derelict garage on fire.
Six appliances were sent to the scene just after 1.30am in Market Street, Maud.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the fire spread to two other garages and a social club.
The fire was brought under control a few hours later.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are carrying out a joint investigation into a fire which occurred at approximately 1.30am this morning at a derelict shed located next to the Maud Social Club, Market Street.
“Extensive damage was caused to the shed. Inquiries are ongoing to establish whether or not the fire was suspicious.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, to contact the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
