Aberdeen fans stood firmly behind the Dons yesterday despite their 2-1 defeat by Celtic in Saturday’s Scottish Cup final.
Around 21,000 Aberdeen supporters descended on Hampden Stadium in Glasgow for the match.
Last night, supporters groups expressed pride that their team had given it their best shot despite the result.
John McMillan, of support group Gothenburg Reds, said the Dons had given it 110%.
“We are very, very proud of the team,” he said.
“They definitely played well but they started to get tired near the end.
“But the atmosphere at the match was absolutely brilliant and everyone was well behind the Dons.
“Everyone was very upbeat on the bus coming home. There was disappointment but everyone felt the team had performed well.”
Kelly Reid, of Northern Lights, added: “I don’t think they could have given any more but unfortunately they just ran out of breath.
“It was a brilliant game and the atmosphere was electric.
“I think everyone was feeling very positive during the match.
“I don’t see how anyone could be disappointed with their performance, they gave it their all.”
Kevin Angus, of the Dyce Reds, said: “In every game we are right behind the team.
“Aberdeen tried their hardest, they played their hearts out.
“The mood was a bit sombre on the way home but there was a great atmosphere at the match.”
Drew McLelland, of Inverurie Supporters Club said that fans had “made the most of the day” despite disappointment at the result.
He added: “I think the feeling is that everyone came together in the north-east to get behind the club.
“I think everyone was disappointed with the result but the fans really got behind the team as much as they could.”
Police Scotland said only eight supporters had been arrested for minor offences during the match, which was attended by around 50,000 people.
It is not known which team they had been supporting.
