The organisers of a popular Deeside beer festival are hoping this year’s event will attract a record numbers of fans of the amber fluid.

This August marks the fourth year of the Banchory Beer Festival, with thousands of people expected to turn out at Deeside RFC’s pitches for the event.

The festival is organised by local brothers Mungo and Guy Finlayson, who run MFGF Events Ltd.

This year, the pair are hoping to quadruple the number of people who attended the inaugural event, and attract 4,000 visitors.

Operations director Mungo said: “Since our first festival in 2014, the event has grown and evolved and the generous support of Bancon Homes and our other sponsors has allowed us to continue to evolve and offer a fantastic weekend that is about much more than just the beer.

“We firmly believe that everyone should be catered for, so we provide a wide range of drinks to suit everyone, as well as a family day on the Sunday, with bouncy castles, ball pits, face painting, a kids’ bar and plenty of fun for all.

“We have several bands already signed up, including Tide Lines, The Mad Ferret Band and The Banjo Lounge 4, with lots more to be confirmed over the coming weeks, so we would encourage everyone to get their tickets as soon as possible.”

This year, the festival has been sponsored by local housebuilder Bancon Homes.

Jo Skinner, sales and marketing director at the firm, said: “We are pleased to be sponsoring this year’s Banchory Beer Festival and are working closely with Mungo and Guy to create additional surprises for visitors.”

The festival runs from August 11-13 with a range of different beers, cider, prosecco and spirits on offer, along with street food and live music.

Its opening times will be 5.30pm to midnight on Friday, noon till midnight on Saturday and noon till 7pm the following day.
