Staff at Aberdeen International Airport got a nice surprise this morning – when big voice crooner Tony Christie stepped off a Flybe airplane.
Many might be wondering what has brought Mr Christie – who sang the big hit Is this the way to Amarillo? – to the Granite City.
Well we have the answer!
Tony Christie will be heading to the city’s AECC to entertain guests at this year’s cHeRries Awards.
This is the 10th anniversary of the annual awards ceremony, which are held in association with Robert Gordon University’s Aberdeen Business School and supported by Mattioli Woods.
Twenty-five individuals, teams and employers have been selected to go forward to the gala awards night celebrating successes and examples of excellence in the fields of human resources, recruitment and training in Scotland. A further award – the Top Cherry – will also be unveiled tonight.
Following Mr Christie on stage will be a fabulous dance floor-filling party quintet, the 5th Avenue band, and master of ceremonies will once again be Scottish funny man Fred MacAulay.
He said: “I am delighted to have been asked back to host the awards again. The 2016 event was a cracking evening and as always, the Aberdeen audience was up for a good time.”
