Six north-east charities have been named as the official partners of this year’s Dandara 5K and family fun day in Aberdeen’s Hazlehead Park.
Charlie House, The Archie Foundation, Aberdeen FC Community Trust, Clan, Friends of Anchor and the Gathimba Edwards Foundation will benefit from the event, which takes place on Saturday September 9.
The theme for this year’s event is Wild West and places are still available for the 5k, 1k and 2k children’s races and a 600m fun run.
Each charity is guaranteed spaces in the 5K and will also be helping carry out volunteer roles on the day.
Runners have until September 4 to sign up for the race online, but can still register on the day if they pay cash.
Participants can raise money for one of the six charitable partners or any other cause they support.
The starting gun goes off at 9.30am with entertainment including the Bon Accord Brass Band and a bouncy castle continuing into the afternoon.
Donald Shaw, chairman of Friends of Hazlehead, said: “This is a growing running event which gets bigger and better every year and we’re honoured to have so many inspirational charities represented on the day, with runners having the opportunity to fundraise for a cause that’s close to their hearts.”
Peter Best, Dandara’s sales manager in Aberdeen, said: “The Dandara 5K and family fun day is one of the biggest fundraising events in the calendar for Friends of Hazlehead, so it’s great that other inspirational local charities also have the opportunity to benefit.”
