In a key result as the Scottish Conservatives looked to establish a blue surge across the north-east, Tory candidate Andrew Bowie swept to victory.
Mr Bowie, a former officer in the Royal Navy, currently works at the Scottish Parliament as head of office for Liam Kerr MSP and has also served as a rural affairs advisor and parliamentary assistant to Ian Duncan MEP in Brussels
The 30-year-old was educated at Inverurie Academy, Britannia Royal Naval College and the University of Aberdeen.
His message during the general election to voters was that he would be a strong voice within the party of government, rather than an MP only able to “shout from the side lines”.
