A man was airlifted to hospital this evening after falling at Dunnottar Castle.
The 54-year-old fell at some steps at the Stonehaven beauty spot shortly after 4pm.
HM Coastguard was called by the Scottish Ambulance Service due to the rocky terrain making it difficult to transfer him to hospital by road.
A rescue helicopter took him to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. It is understood the man damaged ligaments in his knee.
A spokesman for HM Coastguard said coastal rescue teams from both Stonehaven and Aberdeen were involved in co-ordinating the operation.
Crew from Stonehaven were mainly involved in dealing with crowd control and communicating with the rescue helicopter.
