Organisers of a vintage and classic vehicle rally are gearing up for their biggest event yet.
A record 279 exhibitors from across Scotland will attend the annual Crathes vintage car and motorcycle rally on Sunday, allowing visitors to get up close to a wide range of rare vehicles.
This year’s fundraiser, which is organised by the Banchory Rotary Club, will include 90 first-time exhibitors heading to Milton of Crathes from as far afield as Thurso and the Borders.
And even those who cannot attend the event will have the chance to admire the vehicles as they complete a run from Crathes to Banchory via Raemoir, Torphins and Inchmarlo in the morning.
Event secretary John Brind said: “The number of cars and motorcycles entered has increased almost three-fold since 2009 when the entry was 104.
“The event is proving more popular every year and will provide a great spectacle for the public. We always get a number turning up without pre-entering so the total number of vehicles on the day may be even higher.”
The rally is the rotary club’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and last year raised more than £8,000 for local charities.
This year’s main benefactor will be the rotary-inspired charity Alec (Aberdeenshire Life Education Centres), which runs three mobile classrooms to promote healthy life choices among nursery and primary school children.
Visitors of all ages can peruse the range of vehicles, dating from the 1930s to present. There will also be a class from automobiles of America and awards for the best sports car and motorcycle.
Banchory Pipe Band and Northfield Community Brass Band will perform, and there will also be a range of side shows, stalls, as well as a bouncy castle and barbecue. The event will run from 10am-4pm.
