North-east school pupils were visited by a former international sports star at a recent competition.
The youngsters were taking part in a region-wide netball tournament at Kemnay Academy where they had the chance to meet former Scotland under 21 captain Emily Gray.
Miss Gray, from Aberdeen, was part of the national team for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The event was organised through Aberdeenshire Council’s Active Schools initiative.
Its lead coordinator for central Aberdeenshire, Malcolm Grant, said the event proved to be inspiring for the pupils.
He said: “We are delighted to have welcomed Emily to the Kemnay event with her athletic background showing the pupils that a successful sporting career can be combined with studying and then progressed in a different direction by moving to a coaching role, reinforcing the importance of volunteering and volunteer coaches to Scottish sport.”
