The closure of a city centre street has been extended by six weeks to allow workers to push ahead with a multi-million pound pedestrianisation project.
Upperkirkgate was due to be reopened today, but council chiefs have now announced the closure order, between its junctions with Flourmill Lane and Gallowgate, has been extended to August 6.
Gallowgate will also be closed at the same time, between its junctions with Upperkirkgate and Little John Street. The same alternative route applies via Schoolhill, Blackfriars Street, St Andrew Street, Charlotte Street, John Street, Loch Street and Berry Street.
The £3.2million Broad Street project is aimed at transforming the area, in advance of the opening of the Marischal Square scheme.
It will be turned into a road solely for pedestrians, buses and bicycles.
In March, Broad Street was closed to vehicles for the final time.
The development has also been delayed several times with work halted in April due to health and safety concerns and the overall completion date pushed back from July to November.
